Reshmi Kebab

I have a new neighbor who is an expert on all things meat! We decided on a small knowledge exchange program where I will learn Kebabs and currys from her and she will learn desserts from me!

I started with Reshmi Kebab one of the easiest Kebabs, using minimum ingredients.

Here they are all skewered up and ready to go into the oven!

Done up juicy and soft, ready to be devoured!


400 gms Boneless chicken

250 gms Finely dices onions

2 tbsp Cream

5 green chilies finely diced

few sprigs of Cilantro

1 tbsp Garam masala

1 tbsp coconut powder

1 tbsp Almond powder (or Cashew)

1 slice of bread, powdered

1 egg

Salt to taste


Roast 1 tbsp of coconut and few Almonds together and powder together if you don’t already have it in powdered form.

Put the Chicken through a mincer or a blender, do another round with the onions, chilies and coriander.

Into the meat mix, add Garam masala, powdered coconut and almond, salt and mix well.

Adjust the consistency of the mixture with the egg and bread till it can be rolled easily with your hands. Leave for about an hour in the fridge.

Lightly oil the skewers and your palm, break off half a fist full of the meat mix and press it evenly on to the skewer. Make sure the meat adheres well to the skewer. Do the same till all the meat is used up.  These skewers can be left in the fridge for about 30 min to firm it up again before cooking.

Grill on a shallow pan turning once after 3 minutes or in a hot oven for about 5 minutes on each side.

Serve with onions and mint chutney!
